Raiden is the Combiner form of the six Trainbots.
History
Generation 1
Animated series
In Transformers: The Headmasters, Raiden appeared on a number of occasions, often battling with Predaking. He was the only Headmasters Combiner who hadn't appeared previously in The Transformers, and like several other Combiners the origins of his team were unexplained.
Fun Publications
"Ask Vector Prime" revealed that Raiden and his components were produced as part of Japan's "Raiden Initiative", with several of Japan's most brilliant minds collaborating to create him. Most notably, Dr. Takahashi developed the "Heavy Series-Linkage System," which is what enabled Raiden to be formed from the six Trainbots. [1]
