In 1998, AGE, Annex Entertainment, Gribouille and Kaleidoscope Media Group planned to produce a Micronauts animated series starting with a five-part miniseries to air on the Sci Fi Channel in Fall of 1998, followed by a syndicated 26 episode Micronauts animated series for 1999, with action figures and a Marvel tie-in comic announced. The project appears to be shelved or canceled.[1][2]

According to Dave Johnson the series almost made it to TV, but was scrapped when Hasbro bought the rights to the Micronauts.[3]

This announcement remained on their web site until 2009.[4]

2018 Boulder Media Limited

Boulder Media Limited (a then-subsidiary of Hasbro Studios) announced it was developing a Micronauts animated series in 2018, with a projected release date of 2019.[5] 52 half-hour episodes were fully produced, with production concluding in January 2020, but to date, the series has not yet been released. There has been no official announcement regarding its failure to release or its future; executive producer and head writer Eric Rogers has stated that he has received no information from Hasbro on the fate of the show,[6][7] and has speculated that it was turned into a tax write-off.[8] Other sources refute this, claiming that Hasbro still hope to release the series in conjunction with a potential live-action project in the future.[9]

In July 2027 the full two seasons were leak on the internet.

Plot overview

An unlikely team of alien space explorers from the Microverse arrives on Earth chasing the tyrannical Baron Karza. They discover our world is far larger and stranger than expected while battling to stop his conquest.

Cast

Torren Pellum in the Boulder Media Limited Micronauts cartoon
  • Clancy Brown as Baron Karza, a ruthless, power-hungry tyrant and primary antagonist. A brilliant but despotic scientist from the Microverse, he leads his forces in conquest and is relentlessly pursued to Earth by the heroic Micronauts team.
  • Danny Pudi as Xant, a talkative, four-armed Viscerian from the Microverse, serving as the diplomatic and tech-savvy member of the Micronauts team. He’s a former prisoner who dreams of becoming a renowned ambassador. His gauntlets transform into tools while his chest plate projects holograms.
  • Dante Basco as Cameron Ruck, a relatable teenage human boy on Earth who becomes the key ally and human partner to the Micronauts team. He joins their fight against Baron Karza, helping them navigate the dangers of Earth.
  • Kari Walgren as Quin-Tillus, a quirky, green-skinned female Time Traveler. A mutant with space-time sensing abilities and a Staff of the Mystics for opening Space Bridges, she’s a former prisoner who was forced by Baron Karza to aid his escape to Earth, suffering memory-loss-inducing injuries in the process.
  • Kevin Michael Richardson as Oberon, a wise, cyborg and a core member of the Micronauts team. He serves as the dependable “team dad” figure—protective, supportive, and level-headed while helping lead the pursuit of Baron Karza to Earth.
  • Mae Whitman as Phenolo-Phi, a daring rebel and thrill-seeking pilot. She wears a glider suit that turns her into a one-woman jet fighter; as a core member of the Micronauts team, she brings bold energy and combat skills while pursuing Baron Karza to Earth.
  • Maurice LaMarche as Biotron
  • Sean Astin as Torren Pellum
  • Susan Silo as Gammatron
